RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The road closed signs are up already, and many commuters are likely going to find some extra traffic in and around the downtown, Shockoe Bottom area, as the city makes sure it's flood protect walls are ready to go.
Just like the work on the Mayo bridge, the city will be out on Dock Street between 18th and 21st Street to make sure the flood walls work, in case of an emergency.
The flood walls are the main protection keeping Shockoe Bottom from flooding.
Starting Monday, the city will work to make repairs and test the tracks to the flood wall.
The work will last until Friday - when the road is expected to reopen.
In the meantime, commuters will have to find another route in and around Dock Street.
