Police in Richmond, Henrico investigate overnight shootings

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Two separate overnight shootings send two men two the hospital.

Police say the first shooting stemmed from an altercation at an area hotel.

Just before 1:15 Sunday morning, a fight broke out at the Candlewood Suites, in the 5400 block of Audubon Drive.

Police say the victim, who was involved in the scuffle, was leaving the party when an unknown person shot him.

When police arrived the man had already been taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening neck injury.

This shooting is currently under investigation and charges are pending.

Richmond police are investigate the second shooting that happened a few hours later.

Around 3:00 a.m. police responded to the 1400 block of Carter St. after a man was shot in the torso.

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center for treatment but is expected to survive.

Details on what lead up to the shooting have not yet been released.

Anyone with information on either of these crimes is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
