HENRICO, VA (WWBT) – A Henrico family is desperately looking for answers. Their loved one, 20 year old James Poole, was found shot to death at a playground, Thursday night.

"I don't know who would take my child's life. They didn't have no right to take his life," said Deneene Poole, the victim's mother.

Poole calls the pain of her son's death piercing. Police say, James Poole was shot multiple times. His body was found on a playground at the Henrico Arms Apartment Complex in the city's east end.

Surrounded by friends and family, Poole describes her son, who she calls JJ, as loving, kind, friendly, and supportive.

"Even when I was down he used to say you're going to be alright  - you're kids will be ok, God got us," said Poole.

Tommie Speller last saw his cousin hours before he died. He says JJ always encouraged him to do the right thing.

"He said I don't want you to be here on these streets it's not for you," said Speller.

Loved ones of JJ are now looking for answers. They want to know who's responsible for his death and why.

"I'm just asking anybody who's knows something to please talk. Please, because my family -- we need closure," said Jaunika Taylor, the victim's cousin.

JJ's mother has a message for the person who took her son away.

"I forgive them. Whoever did it I pray to god their souls will be saved," said Poole.

Poole says she's also praying for herself, her family, and for  JJ.

"His heart was so sweet and I'm going to miss him," said Poole.
