RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A double shooting in Richmond Monday night. This is all unfolding in north Jackson Ward.
The call first came in as a shooting near the 1200 block of Saint Peters Street. Police weren't able to find anything there. About 8 minutes later, police were called to the 1100 block of North 2nd Street, which is 5 blocks away from the first location. Officers say 2 males had been shot in the arm and leg, or back. They were transported to VCU Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Right now police are trying to gather information from witnesses.
"Detectives knock on doors, canvas the area, and try to figure out just what happened. And this is where the public and the community policing really steps forward and has stepped forward to really give a lot of good information. And they don't want people shot in their neighborhood either and so that is why their information goes a long way in solving a lot of these crimes," said James Mercante with the Richmond Police Department.
Call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 if you have any information about this incident that can help police. You can make an anonymous tip. Right now police are still out here talking with witnesses about the shooting. Again we do know the victims injuries are not life threatening.
