UPDATE: 2 die in overnight crash on I-95 in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT) - Two men are dead following a motor vehicle crash in the City of Petersburg that took place Sunday evening on southbound Interstate 95.

A 1984 Nissan Datsun 300 ZX was traveling on the access ramp from Wythe Street to Interstate 95 southbound around 11:18 p.m. when the driver ran off the right side of the roadway striking the jersey wall. 

The driver then over-corrected and ran off the left side of the roadway losing control of his vehicle and overturned several times.  Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle, according to Virginia State Police.

The driver, Brian J. Moody, 37, of Charles City, died at the scene. Moody was not wearing his safety belt.  The passenger, Terry O. Harris, 32, of Chesterfield, also died at the scene.  Harris was not wearing his safety belt. 

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
