Two arrested in connection with area bank robberies

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Chesterfield police announced that two men have been arrested in connection with the April 9 robbery at Gateway Bank, 2730 Buford Road.

The two suspects are connected to five other bank robberies that occurred between March 10 and April 7 in Colonial Heights, Richmond, Spotsylvania and Williamsburg.

Joseph A. Keeter, 27, of no permanent address and David J. Morelle, 30, of the 14800 block of Creekpoint Circle are charged with robbery and are being held without bond in the Chesterfield County Jail pending upcoming hearings in the Chesterfield County General District Court.

According to police, the two men were arrested in Petersburg and Chesterfield County between 4:30 and 7 p.m. on Thursday with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Chesterfield County Police are working in conjunction with the noted law enforcement agencies on the area bank robberies. The two men will face additional charges in the respective localities.
