RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Baseball fans from all over the state pushed through the big Diamond gates. It was a crowded stadium. Governor Bob McDonnell and Richmond's Mayor Dwight Jones joined in on the fun right before their inaugural pitches.

"Marvelous day for the city of Richmond, America's past time baseball, first sport I played as a kid my dad was the coach," said Governor Bob McDonnell.

"We've been waiting for a long time to be able to say those two magic words, baseballs back," said Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones.

All around it was family event, families brought out their little ones while little boys got their baseballs signed.

"It's just cool to get a player like him to sign a ball for me," said a young fan.

"It's been a long time, it's good to be back in Richmond, it's good to be around great friends and go good," said player, Tony Pena Jr.
