RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Sheriff's Office is still investigating a shooting at an Amelia County restaurant. It happened around 8pm Monday night at the B&N Grill on Patrick Henry Highway, not far past the Chesterfield County line.
Our cameras were rolling as authorities dealt with the aftermath of the shooting. Officials say two men starting arguing inside then moved outside into the parking lot.
One man was shot and med-flighted to VCU Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The other man, Donald Brooks was arrested and charged with 2 counts of attempted 2nd degree murder, 1 count of malicious wounding and 2 counts of using a firearm to commit a felony.
We caught up with Leon Jones. He tells us he believes the two men involved here are actually friends.
Jones also has been to the same grill where all this went down, several times. "It's usually a nice atmosphere usually when we stop there on our way home."
But that atmosphere changed quickly on Monday evening. "It's disturbing. You know things happen, and you don't know the reason why," adds Jones.
Right now, police are working to determine a motive for the shooting. We are expecting Brooks, the suspect, to be in court today for an arraignment hearing.
