Firefighters investigate two overnight fires

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - The cause of an early morning fire in Chester is now under investigation.

Fire crews responded to a two alarm fire in the 3600 block of Broadwater Road around 5:00 Sunday morning.

Crews saw smoke coming from one of the townhouses.

They put the fire out quickly.

A family of seven was displaced and is now being helped by the Red Cross.

The people in the adjacent townhouse were also evacuated.

There were no injuries.

The Petersburg fire department is also investigating an overnight fire.

It happened around 2:00 a.m. in the 100 block of Virginia Avenue.

Crews arrived to find the house engulfed.

That fire is now under control.

The house is a vacant property and there were no injuries.

No word yet on a cause.
