Hanover resident killed in Charles City crash

CHARLES CITY, VA (WWBT) - A Mechanicsville man is dead following a motor vehicle crash in Charles City County that took place Friday afternoon.

At 12:01 p.m., Virginia State Police were called to the scene on Route 106, Roxbury Road, at the intersection with Route 607, Wayside Road.

A 2003 Hyundai Sonata was traveling eastbound on Route 607 when the driver failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by a 2004 Mack Truck traveling northbound on Route 106, according to State Police.

The driver of the Hyundai, Joseph S. Wooddy III, 28, of Mechanicsville, died at the scene. Wooddy was not wearing his safety belt.  The driver of the Mack Truck was not injured in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation at this time.
