NORFOLK, VA (WWBT)--Governor McDonnell is heading to Norfolk today to add his signature to legislation intended to promote green energy.

The governor is scheduled to sign two bills that directly pertain to offshore wind energy.

One would create the Virginia Offshore Wind Development Authority.

The other would create tax credits to encourage development of offshore wind farms.

The green initiative is part of McDonnell's initiative to develop traditional and alternative energy sources, creating Virginia jobs and generating revenues.
