RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – A woman is rushed to the hospital, after her lunch is interrupted by a car smashing into the McDonald's where she was eating.

The female driver apparently lost control of her car and didn't stop until she crashed into the dining room.

Witnesses say the car smashed right into a table where a woman was enjoying lunch. The car hit the table and trapped the woman. Another man inside came over and helped her get free. She was taken to the hospital and is expected to be alright. The driver of the car was not hurt.

The owner of the McDonalds, John Hessian released the following statement: "The safety and well-being of my customers and employees is a top priority. We work hard to provide our customers a safe restaurant environment. This was an isolated incident and we wish those involved a very speedy recovery."

Richmond police are investigating, but at this point no charges have been filed. They have not said what caused the driver to lose control. The restaurant at Huguenot Road and Forest Hill Avenue is open.
