PRINCE GEORGE, VA (WWBT) – More than a hundred criminal charges are filed as a result of several recent undercover drug stings in Prince George County. The crackdown has led to the arrests twelve people. Sixteen more are being sought. Marijuana, cocaine, $20,000, and a gun were all seized.
"This is a result of multiple investigations not just one. These are complaint driven as well as intelligence driven operations here in the county," said Captain Eric Young with the Prince George County Police Department.
Most of the charges and arrests have come within the past few days. Those charged range in age from 18 to 41 and live in the tri-cities area.
"Drugs go hand in hand with property crimes and crimes against people. The more drugs we get off the streets, as well as offenders, it makes our neighborhood a safer place to live in," said Young.
Jennifer White lives in Prince George County. She says she knows her neighborhood has a growing drug problem.
"I have younger brothers and sisters and I've had people approach them. It's really bad it's terrible," said White.
White is hoping police will increase efforts to combat drugs in the community.
"They need to step up the pace -- crackdown a little harder," said White.
It's a request police say is already being answered.
"This isn't the last undercover sting. We're not going to stop. We're out there today doing the same thing," said Young.
Police are warning drug dealers they will be caught sooner or later. If you have any information on the whereabouts of the 16 individuals who are wanted you're asked to contact Crime Solvers at 733-2777.
