RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – The Richmond Police and Richmond Fire departments have recovered the body of Ferdinand Nathaniel Jr. in the James River.
Nathaniel, 65, of the 2400 block of Alexander Avenue, was reported missing earlier this month.
On Monday, the Richmond medical examiner announced that the cause of death for Nathaniel was drowning and has been deemed a suicide.
Late Sunday morning a passerby noticed what appeared to be a body in the river and notified police.
Fire swift water rescue located the body and recovered it with assistance of police detectives, forensics and patrol officers.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause of death. No foul play is suspected.
