COLONIAL HEIGHTS, VA (WWBT) – A local woman says she fears for her life after an attack in Walmart.
Traci Hamilton says a verbal altercation escalated to a violent assault by several people.
"I was crawled up. I was trying to protect my face. She hit me a bunch of times in my face. She was just hitting me," said Hamilton.
Hamilton says it happened earlier this month at the Walmart store in Colonial Heights. It was around 8:30 at night. Hamilton says her boyfriend got into a verbal argument with a female shopper who had a gun.
"She had it in her shirt and she had an empty holster on her side," said Hamilton.
Hamilton says her boyfriend backed off. They dialed 911. Hamilton says moments later that armed woman and four other women surrounded her and her boyfriend -- two of the woman attacked.
"I was yelling, please call the police. Help me, help me," said Hamilton.
Hamilton took pictures of the bruises on her face and body. She says the group ran off after the assault. At this point police say some sort of altercation took place and that there were witnesses but none of the witness saw a gun.
In a statement Anna Taylor, who's a spokesperson for Walmart says, "Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and associates. We are cooperating with police in this investigation."
Hamilton says she wants the alleged attackers behind bars.
"I really want the girls off the street because if they did it to us there's somebody else out there that's going to get hurt," said Hamilton.
Police say they inquired to Walmart if video of the incident exists and was told there is no video. If you have any information on the case contact Colonial Heights Police.
