RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Donnie Poulson is wanted by a number of law enforcement agencies, including the Department of Corrections, Virginia State Police, and Henrico County Police.
Poulson is wanted for parole violation and failing to register as a violent sex offender. He hasn't reported into police since last October.
"It's not like your average speeding case, we're not looking for some guy that has stolen something," said Trooper A.L. Shaffier of the Virginia State Police. "He's a sex offender, so if he re-offends there's going to be a victim. When we don't know where he is, neither does the general public."
Police believe Poulson is still in the area. His last known address was in the Fairlawn neighborhood in Henrico's East End.
"He has a lot of contacts in the East End near Highland Springs, I think he's bouncing around a little bit," Shaffier said.
Poulson's most distinguishing feature is a tear drop tattoo under his left eye.
"I got a tip recently that he was working as a tattoo artist, kind of an amateur type thing I guess. He is big into tattoos as a lot of his friends are as well," he said.
The Department of Corrections has a probation warrant out on Poulson. State police are working with the U.S. marshals and Henrico County police to track him down.
"I think he's got a lot of contacts, he's got a lot of people that are covering for him, he's just one step ahead of us," Shaffier said.
Police have been close to capturing Poulson on several occasions and need your help to get him off the streets.
"I want to stress to the public that our case is complete, we just need our man," Shaffier said. "We're not going to bring in a tipster, they're completely anonymous, we don't even need to know their name."
Trooper Shaffier has arrested Poulson in the past.
"He's not the person that you would expect based on everything that has happened in his past," Shaffier said. "When you finally get your hands on him he's compliant....he cries."
