Spiders play St. Mary's in NCAA Tournament

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)--The NCAA basketball tournament kicks off Thursday and many will be rooting for the Richmond Spiders.

The University of Richmond's men's team will take on St. Mary's in Providence, Rhode Island.

This will be the first NCAA tournament game for Richmond since 2004. As a number seven seed, this marks the best-ever NCAA seed for Richmond. The last time the Spiders won an NCAA tournament game was 1998.

UR will host some viewing parties today. One will be at the Champps Restaurant & Bar in Stony Point.

Another one will be in the Alice Haynes room of Tyler Haynes Commons, on the UR campus.

Tip-off is at 2:50 p.m.
