Job fair in Richmond Thursday

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)--Richmond Hires is hosting the job fair on Thursday at 11 a.m.

At 6.9%, Virginia's unemployment rate is higher right now compared to last year--but today could help turn that around.

A variety of employers will be seeking workers, including companies like Verizon Wireless, Aflac and Nationwide and Sears home improvement products.

Economists say job fairs like today's are a good and popular way for folks to get back on their feet--and evidence the recession is coming to an end.

If you'd like to attend the job fair--here's the information:

It's today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza is located at 6531 West Broad Street.    

Organizers say even if you don't land a job today--a local career expert will be on hand to help you review your resume--which could help you out in the long run--plus networking is always a good thing.
