LOUISA, VA (WWBT) - George Spiker, 55, of Henrico County has been sentenced to a total of 100 years on five counts of soliciting a minor over the internet for sex after a jury convicted Spiker in January.
During the sentencing phase the jury learned about Spiker's prior conviction of sexually assaulting a babysitter in West Virginia and they recommended 20 years in prison on each count.
Judge Timothy K. Sanner imposed the jury's recommendation today. According to the sentencing commission this is the largest sentence in Virginia history for this offense.
Louisa Commonwealth's Attorney Thomas A. Garrett said "we are pleased that Spiker will not have the opportunity to harm another child." Garrett prosecuted this case along with deputy commonwealth's attorney Rusty McGuire.
