RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Virginia Commonwealth University today announced it is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the location of Jonathan S. Dorey, a 22-year old student who was reported missing on March 4.

Friends of the missing VCU student will come together Friday to help find the student. E-mails are helping to shed new light on his plans just days before he disappeared.

Dorey is a foreign exchange student from England. A family spokesman says the VCU student was discussing possible travel plans before he went missing.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch is reporting that he was exchanging e-mails with a friend back home about going to Florida. Those e-mails ended February 28 -- two days before Dorey was last seen leaving his dorm with his mountain bike.

No travel date was set in the e-mails and the friend never flew here to the United States.

Dorey's disappearance launched a massive search and prompted a facebook group which now has more than 16,000 members.

That group has organized a bike search for Dorey. His parents and his younger brother are now here to join in the search.

For anyone who would like to join in, they will meet Friday at 3 p.m. in front of the Gladding residence center at VCU at West Main and South Laurel streets.

If you know anything, call VCU police at 828-1196 or VCU Detective Sergeant Abrams at (804) 640-3380.
