UPDATE: Man charged with murder in Sunday's triple shooting

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The suspect wanted by Richmond Police in Sunday's murder in the 1100 block of St. John Street is now in custody.

Tion Randell Bates, 18, turned himself in Wednesday at Richmond Police Headquarters around 2:45 p.m. He is charged with murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

At 5:50 p.m. Sunday, March 7, Richmond Police received a call regarding random gunfire on St. John Street. When officers arrived, they found Keith Brunson, 23, next to a vehicle deceased from a gunshot wound.

Two other men also were injured by the gunfire. They were taken to VCU Medical Center. Their injuries were not considered life threatening.

Investigators believe there are witnesses who can help with the case.

"With everyone out and about this afternoon, we're hoping that someone saw something. If anyone has any info at all, please call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000," said Richmond Police spokesperson Karla Peters.
