Lee Boyd Malvo apologizes to shooting victim

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A Louisiana man shot by convicted DC area sniper Lee Boyd Malvo has received a letter of apology.

John Gaeta says he's glad Malvo wrote him but isn't sure whether the sentiment is sincere.

Last month, Malvo confessed to detectives that he shot Gaeta, but said he thought the man had died. That shooting was part of a criminal spree by Malvo and John Allen Muhammad that left 10 people dead and terrorized the DC and Virginia area for three weeks in October of 2002.

Gaeta says Malvo expressed remorse in his letter and relief that he had not killed him.
