RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Ozzie is a 6 year old Boston Terrier. He's recovering from injuries he sustained from a pit-bull attack February 25. The pit-bull attacked while it was being walked past Ozzie's yard on Richmond's Park Avenue.
"He was looking at me with these eyes and he was just so terrified and his skin was just hanging off of his neck and I grabbed him and my neighbor came out, and she gave me a towel and we just rushed him to the emergency vet," said Ozzie's owner, Paige Alcorn.
Ozzie had to have several surgeries and a tube put into his neck to allow drainage. And all the while the medical bills just keep piling up.
"We had to do the additional surgery because it was so infected that's the problem with bite wounds," said Alcorn. "The vet said that there's a 90 percent chance that he's going to have at least one more surgery."
A photo of a Boston Terrier is being sold to help cover the cost of Ozzie's vet bills. Dog lovers here in the area are doing what they can to help Ozzie recover.
"I made prints of a painting that I made," said dog lover, Michael Hale. "It was my sisters Boston so I made prints and I'm selling them for whatever someone wants to give."
Hale, is a tattoo artists at River City Tattoos and wanted to do something to help when he heard what happened. Paige and her friends have been nursing Ozzie back to health by feeding him baby food and giving him medication. She's thankful her dog survived the incident and that her community joined together to help care for her best friend.
