VCU to test tornado preparedness

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - VCU is making sure its ready in the event of an emergency.

The school is conducting a tornado preparedness exercise in the week ahead.

At 9:30 Tuesday morning, 10 sirens will sound on the monroe park and MCV campuses.

Students, staff, and residents near the campus who signed up, will receive text messages.

Student volunteers will also serve as tornado victims at various sites set up as command post.

Emergency personnel from VCU and the city will take part in the exercise.
