Hopewell police investigate murder

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) – The Hopewell Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 2306 of Dellrose Drive.

Lonnie Drumin, 57, was stabbed in the chest while standing  next to his vehicle in his driveway. William Henry Stringfield, 39, who resided with the victim has been arrested. Drumin was transported to John Randolph Medical Center where he died from his wounds.

While conducting a search warrant at the residence detectives discovered Stringfield, hiding in a closet. Stringfield was arrested on an outstanding warrant for unauthorized use of a vehicle without incident. Stringfield was transported to Riverside Regional Jail.

After an investigation, a warrant was obtained for first degree murder against William Stringfield for the murder of Lonnie Drumin. Stringfield is being held without bond, no court has been set.

This is the City of Hopewell's first homicide for 2010.
