Gunfire near VCU campus, one injured

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Richmond police are investigating a Saturday night shooting that injured one person.

Police received a call for random gunfire around 10:30 Saturday evening outside Carribbean Mingles in the 100 block of West Main Street, just blocks away from the VCU campus. When officers arrived additional shots were heard.

As police searched the area an 18-year-old man approached officers and said he had been shot. The victim told police he doesn't know who shot him, or why.

The victim was taken to VCU Medical Center with a non-life threatening wound to the leg. No arrests have been made.

Police urge anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
