Snow removal budget wiped out

Posted by Iva Radman – email

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)--The Commonwealth of Virginia continues to be under a state of emergency.

In some parts of northern Virginia 37 inches of snow fell in the last two days.

The state's snow-removal budget of $79 million dollars has been entirely wiped out. State officials also confirmed they've now exhausted all $25 million of the emergency reserve fund.

The governor says no matter how much money the state is in the hole now, safety and fast clean-up are the top priorities.
