RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -- Last minute winter storm shoppers hit the stores in big numbers on Friday, getting ready and looking for a shovel that is very hard to come by these days.
Just as fast as the guys are putting the shovels together, they are flying off the shelves. It's an assembly line, right in the middle of some antsy last minute shoppers.
With the snow less than a day away, many were left with long drives to find the hot item: a shovel.
"This is my third stop and my last," exclaims David.
"About an hour search up and down West Broad Street," says Francine.
"Well, I called a bunch of places. I let my fingers do the walking," adds Roger.
So with the hard part over, many were greeted by this, these people are now snow storm ready!
Bill considers himself lucky. "When I pulled in, I couldn't believe how many people were buying shovels and sleds."
"Relived, relieved now that I don't have to work with the plastic one that hurts my back!" says Francine.
For Pleasant's Hardware Manager Clay Butler, it's been a crazy couple of days!
"May folks have been calm and understanding that we had a truck come in and it took us some time to get the truck unloaded, they were understanding and appreciative," says Butler.
Shovels weren't the only hot item of the day. We saw bags and bags of salt loaded into trucks-and of course, you got to have some fun right?
With all the fresh powder, children and adults have to get sleds to have some fun on the hills!
Here's a fair warning though: make sure you get all the supplies you need now, because soon, you'll be out of luck.
"I think this is going to be it," adds Clay.
All of those people are glad just they were able to wrap there hands around a shovel to plow their way out of the big snowstorm to hit this weekend.
