Preparing for the snowstorm

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - With less than 24 hours till the first anticipated snowfall store shelves are being wiped clean. People are rushing to get the supplies they need in case they get snowed in on the weekend.

"I wanted to get a snow shovel but they're sold out in all the stores," said shopper, Horace Dunby.

The shelves at Lowes in Richmond were completely empty but thankfully they say they're expecting another shipment of about 300 shovels to come in the next 2 days.

While most stores are out of shovels, things like firewood, and salt for driveways and sidewalks are fully stocked. And from the hardware store to the grocery store, a night of snow storm preparation isn't complete without a full fridge.

"I'm getting some diet coke for myself and some sour cream to eat with my chili," said one customer.

"I got all the essentials water and toilet paper, eggs. Stuff to make meals for the weekend," added another.

And those who gave up on finding that shovel are left to improvise and hope for the best.

"The next best thing she told me to get some salt and put it down before it snows and you don't have to do any shoveling," said Dunby. "I just hope it works!"
