RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Fire investigators are searching for the cause of a house fire in the 3100 block of Barton Ave.

It started around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Flames could be seen coming from the second floor. The fire then spread into the attic.

One man was rescued after he was trapped upstairs. A firefighter suffered minor injuries, but should be okay. No one else was hurt.

Five people were living there - the Red Cross is helping them.

Investigators say the home may have been a boarding house. They also believe the house didn't have any working smoke alarms.
