ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VA (WWBT) - The skeletal remains believed to be that of missing Virginia Tech student Morgan Harrington were found in a secluded area on a private farm in Albemarle County.

The area is not easily accessible and police had not searched the location during their missing persons investigation.

A shaken and upset, David Bass talked about his property now the center of a crime scene.

"I hope it's closure for them -- it's very sad," said Bass.

Bass found the human remains on his property just before 10 a.m. Tuesday morning while checking the fences around his 750-acre farm off Route 29.

A storm had hit Sunday night and he wanted to make sure there was no damage.

Bass says he came across what he first thought was a deer.  When he looked closer, he said it looked like a human skull with no hair.  Bass said you can only get to that area by foot and even then it's difficult terrain.

"There's no other way, you'd have to go through barbed wire fences, cross rivers and streams -- it's a complete mystery to me," said Bass.

Police received some 600 tips during their investigation and still want people to call the tip line if they have information that can help further the case. Call 434-352-3467.
