Fuel spill shuts down section of Route 307 in Amelia

AMELIA, VA (WWBT) - A tractor trailer carrying 8,000 gallons of diesel fuel ran off the road and overturned on State Route 307 Monday morning.

A section of State Route 307 was closed to through traffic between U.S. routes 360 and 460 while crews cleaned up about 300 gallons of spilt fuel.

The accident happened around 9:30 a.m.

The driver Adam Doumbia, 47, of Bronx, NY is charged with failure to maintain proper control of vehicle.  Doumbia was sent to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.  He has since been released.

Virginia State Police expects the road to reopen around 5 p.m.
