RICHMOND, VA (WWBT)--Another successful rescue in Haiti because of the work of Virginia firefighters. United Nations Civil Affairs Officer Jens Christian of Denmark was trapped beneath the crushed UN building. Virginia crews were able to pull him out of the collapsed building.

People applauded as the stretcher was lifted from the rubble.

David Hutcheson, a member of Virginia Task force said the officer was lucky to be where he was.

"He's in good shape; he wasn't trapped physically around his body. He was trapped in an area. So physically he's in good shape."

But frustration and anger continue to build on the streets of Haiti's capital. Haitian riot police fired tear gas, in an attempt to stop about 1,000 people from looting.  At least two accused looters were beaten or shot to death by angry residents.
