The Capitol was under construction when Governor Tim Kaine was sworn into office so his festivities were held in Williamsburg. But Governor-elect Bob McDonnell will take his oath of office at the Capitol on the front steps. Earlier this week McDonnell revealed the theme of his inaugural celebration to be "Commonwealth of Opportunity".
He will be sworn in at noon as thousands of expected guests look on. The big event will be followed by a parade which will include lots of groups like the Washington Redskins Marching Band.
All this week crews have been working to prepare the Capitol for the celebration.
In the meantime the Governor-elect has been focusing on "service" as he helped out at food banks and homeless shelters and visited with school kids, military families and inmates.
So clearly a busy week for Bob McDonnell and all others involved with the event. Starting at noon Friday many of the roads around the Capitol will be shut down as the final pieces of the puzzle come together.
