Fire captain's court hearing on charges in ill treatment of dogs delayed

PETERSBURG, VA (WWBT)--The Petersburg fire captain charged with the ill treatment of animals was expected in court today but the preliminary hearing was postponed until February 25.

Ivey, 36, was the caretaker of several dogs found abandoned at a Chesterfield home. Four were dead, four were in poor condition.

Ivey is on paid administrative leave from the Petersburg Fire Department pending the outcome of the investigation.
