Police officer shoots pit bull in Henrico

HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A police officer shot a pit bull Monday afternoon in Henrico's east end. It happened in the two-thousand block of Cleary Road.

According to police, two pit bulls were running loose in a neighborhood around one p.m. When an officer arrived, one of the pit bulls jumped a fence and started charging toward him.

The officer hit the dog with two shots. That dog was later euthanized.

The other pit bull and three puppies were handed over to the authorities.

Their owner faces a fine.
