Bomb squad responds to Norfolk airport to investigate package

NORFOLK, VA (WWBT) - An unattended package shipped to Norfolk International Airport from California tested positive for possibly containing explosives.

Members of Norfolk police department's bomb squad responded to the airport shortly after 8 a.m. to investigate the package.

After interviewing the recipient of the package and x-raying it, police determined it did not contain explosives.  Inside the package were clothes, a DVD player and other miscellaneous items.

The baggage area was closed during the incident and reopened around 9:45 a.m.
