VDOT seeking road clearing reimbursement

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – VDOT wants the federal government to help pay the costs of cleaning up from this month's snow storm.

The agency estimates it spent up to 35 million dollars to clear roads and highways. VDOT is seeking 27 million because FEMA rules limit reimbursement to money spent 48 hours before the storm's arrival to its departure 2 days later.

There's no guarantee that Virginia will receive all the federal dollars it's seeking.
