One killed in fire at North 3rd Avenue in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - A holiday weekend house fire leaves one Richmond resident dead.

Firefighters were called to the home at North 3rd Avenue and Victor Street around 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening. It didn't take long for them to arrive -- the fire station is nearby.

The man who died was one of five people inside the home when the fire started.

The Red Cross is assisting four other residents with food and shelter. Fire investigators are still looking for the cause of the blaze.
