HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -  It was a story that tugged on your heart strings. Hundreds of coats, on their way to needed folks, were stolen from the local Salvation Army.

But today we learned that the coats weren't actually stolen.

It is a confusing story, but it is not stopping the work of one local man, who joined us on NBC12.

Trevor Dickerson operates the popular web site and has been unofficially dubbed the "mayor" of Short Pump on the internet.

In less than 24 hours, Dickerson has recruited 25 local businesses to help him bring in as many coats as possible to fill what he thought was a void for the Salvation Army. He joined NBC12 via Skype.

Q: Trevor, the coats were apparently, never stolen. But that isn't stopping you for going forward with your drive, why?

Q: What type of businesses are taking part?

Q: Have you talked to the salvation army and what have they told you about the situation?
