RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Some local restaurants were reminded to keep food fresh and keep things clean by state health inspectors. Here's a look at their critical violations and what they're doing about them.

In Chesterfield, Jiang's Restaurant at 1213 Carmia way had 5 critical violations. The inspector says sheet trays being used for storing raw beef were not observed sanitized. Violations were corrected during the inspection. Jiang's had 3 critical violations in a follow up inspection. Again violations were corrected. The restaurant has earned several perfect scores on past inspections.

In Richmond, Saxby's Coffee Shop at 520 West Franklin Street had 4 critical violations, including a bluish green substance growing on some cantaloupe. Violations were corrected during the inspection. A follow up report is not yet available.

In Henrico, Mama Mary's Sugar & Spice at 3406 Mechanicsville Turnpike had 4 critical violations. The inspector says he found containers of cooked chicken in the walk-in fridge with no date. A follow up report is not yet available.

This week's NBC 12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Vinny's Italian Grill at 6737 Lake Harbor Drive in Midlothian.

"It's very, very important because as I said its an award for us for all the staff of Vinny's, we're very proud and it's a very big award," said co-owner Guiseppe Calderone.

This Italian restaurant has earned perfect scores on their last five health inspections in a row.

"It might seem very easy but its working very hard and listening to the health inspector," said Calderone.
