RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -  From mold in an ice machine to flies in a kitchen, some local restaurants had critical violations on their state health inspections. But they say the problems were immediately corrected.

Starting in Chesterfield, Wendy's at 7802 Midlothian Turnpike had 4 critical violations. The inspector says there was a thick layer of pink mold inside the ice machine. The manager tells us the mold was immediately cleaned out, violations were corrected during the inspection and they take inspections very seriously. A follow up report is not yet available. The restaurant has earned perfect scores on previous inspectIons.

In Glen Allen, Phat Boyz BBQ, Inc. on Washington Highway had 4 critical violations, ending a streak of 4 perfect inspections in a row. The report says "methods are not being used to control pests. Excess flies observed." The manager tells us a door was open during the inspection, but that pest control is in use. Violations were corrected during the inspection. A follow up inspection has not yet been conducted.

In Henrico, Fu Jian Chinese Restaurant at 9720 Gayton Road had 4 critical violations. The report says there were dried food particles on the slicer. Fu Jian earned a perfect score on a follow up inspection two weeks later.

In Richmond, Good Taste at 931 West Grace Street had 4 critical violations. The inspector wrote that two employees failed to wash their hands before food preparation. All four violations were corrected during the inspection.

This week's NBC 12 Hall of Fame Award goes to Café Richmond at 1015 East Clay Street in Richmond. This café behind the Valentine History Center offers sandwiches named for historic places and people of Richmond. "The Bojangles Robinson and we have John Wickham," said co-owner Eugene Auston.

Café Richmond has earned perfect scores on it's last four health inspections. "I think people like the atmosphere. As you can see the garden outside, when the weather is warm, it's a beautiful place to come and have lunch," said Auston.
