RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Faith Tribbey is on a table to table search for an early Christmas gift. This after she lost her job in November. Devastating news just days before the holiday shopping season began.

"My son likes to go shopping so that put me in a little bit of mood, damper mood too," said Faith.

That a feeling she, along with others here at this job fair, have this Christmas season.

"You can't go out and spend like you want to," said Faith.

20 employers ranging from the medical field to the federal government were on hand trying to help people like Faith, to make this season a little brighter.

One of the biggest questions among the people looking for jobs is will these employers be interviewing and hiring on the spot?

The answer is really hit or miss. Some actually say they'll hire, others are pre-interviewing and a few are just taking applications.

That's not exactly what some want to hear, but for Alice Walker Hall, it's all about keeping a positive attitude heading into the Christmas season.

"I'm encouraged because it's a new year, new possibilities and I'm hopefully getting a job that I'm qualified for," said Walker-Hall.

It's that attitude Faith is taking too. "I have 2 sons and they keep me motivated and say 'Mom, something's going to come through.'"
