RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) — Sheriff C.T. Woody, Jr. has released the name of the inmate who died November 24 at the Richmond City Jail. The 54-year-old white male has been identified as Earl John Glauner.

On November 24 at 12:40 p.m., Glauner was found unresponsive in his cell.  Medical Staff and additional jail security staff responded, administered life saving measures and contacted Richmond Ambulance Authority (RAA).

Upon the arrival of RAA personnel, Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center (VCUMC) was contacted. Resident Glauner was pronounced dead at 1:13 p.m by VCUMC medical personnel.

A preliminary joint investigation conducted by the Richmond City Sheriff's Office Investigations Unit and the Richmond Police Department revealed Glauner may have died due to complications from a pre-existing health condition.  Glauner's family was notified of his death Thursday.
