RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – Tomorrow morning 23 year old Brian Boyle will run his fourth marathon in four weeks and while that feat is amazing the fact that he is still alive is even more amazing.

July 6th 2004 in Maryland Brian Boyle was driving home from swim practice when a dump truck hit his car on the driver's side. His heart was ripped across his chest, his lungs collapsed and he damaged practically every organ in his body.

He suffered 60 percent blood loss and was in a coma for two months. He remembers a priest standing over him giving him last rights and statements about being a vegetable and spending the rest of his life in a nursing home.

He lost 100 pounds. Through the love of his parents, physical therapy and a positive attitude Brian was able to make a comeback.

"Everyday to me is just going out and doing what I have to do, going to school and everything, to live it and enjoy every moment, to be thankful. To let everyone, I know in my life, how much that means to me. To always be grateful and to always be a good person," said Brian.

Doctors told Brian due to all the injuries he suffered he can expect to live to be 50 years old. Brian wrote a book called Iron Heart, detailing all that he has been through.

Brian says he hopes to find a girlfriend someday that will enjoy running with him.
