RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) – The SunTrust Richmond Marathon is this weekend and race officials are keeping a close eye on how potential James river flooding could impact race day.

Scott Schricker from SportsBackers said race officials are concerned about Riverside Drive at the 9-mile mark near Pony Pasture Rapids where water from the James could spill over on to the road.

If there is flooding on riverside drive a detour would be made.

If you are running in the race, Half-Marathon or 8K, you must pick up your packet and race number today at the Arthur Ashe Center from 11 a.m. this morning until 9 p.m. tonight.

A record 15,000 runners are signed up for the three running events and tonight's Kid's Run.
