AMELIA, VA (WWBT) - Tina Puryear is heartbroken and still emotional after someone stole her prized possessions. Her 2 toy dogs Nikki and Indie were taken from her Amelia County home in broad daylight.
"They can have the jewelry," said Puryear. "They can have the TV. You can come back and get my car but give me back the dogs."
It happened around 3 Wednesday afternoon. The thieves ransacked several bedrooms before taking off with the Yorkie and Maltese Poodle as well as a TV and miscellaneous jewelry valued at $10,000.
Police have dusted for fingerprints on a downstairs window, the likely place the thieves got in before exiting out the side door.
"Why would somebody take dogs," asked Puryear's husband, John. "There are other things to take. There's thousands of dollars worth of tools in the shed."
Now the couple is cleaning up the mess the burglars left behind. The only memories of their beloved animals are photos and a few articles of clothing.
"I just want to know if they're ok and I want them," added Tina. "They're very loved. They were stolen from us."
Tina and John are willing to part with their valuables. They just hope the person responsible will return their animals safe and sound.
