HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - The Harrington case has touched the heart of a local mother whose teenage daughter is also missing. Theresa Meadows vanished five years ago from Hanover County - and hasn't been seen or heard from since.
Margaret Swann pushes through the day with a heavy heart - hanging on to sanity by focusing on work. In the back of her mind - questions and concern over her daughter Theresa Meadows.
"Trying to hold up, but it's hard every day. Not knowing where she's at," said Swann.
Meadows went missing five years ago. She was seventeen.
"I love her and I want her to come home."
No one has heard from Meadows since she disappeared. Meadows lived at this apartment complex on Garden Park Lane in Mechanicsville. Police say it's where she was last seen - walking out of her apartment after having an argument with her guardian.
Police say they've gotten leads on this case over the years but nothing substantial. Swann says every time she hears about a missing child, her heart cracks. She was brought to tears when she learned of the 20 year old Morgan Harrington, who recently went missing in Charlottesville.
"I know exactly what they're going through - it hurts me for another child being missing. Don't know where that child is, who's got her: day after day not knowing if she's still alive or dead," Swann said.
Swann says she's holding out hope...for the Harrington family and her own.
"Something tells me she's still alive. I just have a feeling," she said.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Theresa Meadows you're asked to contact the Hanover County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
