CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Neighbors in this quiet Chesterfield County neighborhood are on edge. This after one of their neighbor's home was burglarized.

"The people took a storm window off of a back bathroom window and not broke the window but jarred the window and came into the home," said neighbor, Michael Culleton.

Culleton and his wife, Kathy, live across the street from where the burglary took place. Around 11 AM Tuesday, someone broke into a home in the 13900 block of Elmstead Road stealing more than $15,000 worth of property including diamond rings and a big screen TV. Neighbors believe the home was targeted.

"She just happened to go out on an errand so somebody was perhaps watching the property," said Michael's wife, Kathy.

The neighborhood home owners association sent out an e-mail to residents detailing what happened. The only suspicious activity noted was a white van near the home at the time of the incident. Neighbors are now taking extra precautions.

"We're always making sure that the house is locked properly and that neighbors know when we are not around to keep an eye out for it and we always try to keep an eye out for our neighbors houses," said neighbor Ed Olson.

Other than the description of the white van neighbors have no other suspect details. Chesterfield Police are hoping someone will come forward with information.
