HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) - "He said your son just got shot," recalled Kashif Temple's father, Joe Marsh. "Immediately I dropped."
Marsh is broken after not just one but 2 of his sons are murdered in a matter of months. His son Antonio was killed in February and more recently his son Kashif earlier this week. Now he and his daughters are trying to figure out how to move on.
"At first I was just in shock and I just didn't think it was real," said Kashif's sister, Bridgette Stewart. "I think I still don't really feel like it's real. It hasn't really hit me."
The family doesn't hide the two brother's troubled pasts but they insist that violence should never be the answer. They're hoping that someone will hear their story and think twice before taking someone's life.
"I thought that we, our people would have learned something from the first murder but I guess not," added Stewart.
The last time Kashif's sisters saw him was at his younger brother's funeral, nearly 9 months ago. Now the last time they'll see Kashif will be at his own funeral. The family hopes their story will help end violence in their area.
